This A5 Cousin planner cover features artwork from Tomie, the debut and most iconic work by horror manga artist Junji Ito.
Using original illustrations from the manga first published in 1987, the design brings together nearly four decades of Junji Ito’s distinctive, unsettling world.
The Tomie – Memory cover is crafted from silver faux leather and printed with scenes, lines, and speech bubbles taken directly from the original manga. Beautiful, arrogant, carefree, and terrifying, the artwork captures the many faces of Tomie across the entire surface of the cover, from front to back.
The illustrations are printed in black ink against the silver background, with Tomie’s eyes rendered in white ink. This striking contrast draws attention to her captivating gaze, a defining element of her character. Inside the back pocket, additional illustrations reveal some of Tomie’s most disturbing moments, hidden once the techo is inserted yet present in every carefully drawn detail.
The interior of the cover is finished in black, heightening the contrast between beauty and horror. From the scene of Tomie’s multiplied form concealed within the pocket, to the image of her human-faced tumour peering from a rubbish bin, the cover rewards closer inspection with layers of narrative and tension.
