Kikko's father has set out for Grandma's house and left the pie behind, so she follows his footprints through the snow to catch him. Deep in the woods she comes upon a large house she has never seen before, and a small lamb in a coat asks her, kindly, whether she has come for the tea party.
An original fairy tale from Akiko Miyakoshi, told almost entirely in charcoal greys with occasional red and yellow guiding the eye through the pages. The ending stays deliberately open — whether Kikko imagined the party or the animals simply slipped back into the trees is left for the reader to settle.
