The Kikka Donabe is a modern version of the traditional Hanamishima Donabe casserole pot!

Perfect for the busy modern household, it doesn't require any seasoning before use and the dark surface glazing helps prevent  odors and stains. Making it perfect for a wide variety of dishes to be cooked in it, from hot-pots to soup curry and cheese fondue.

It retains the heat storage properties of Donabe pots but is 15% lighter than the conventional model.

Why Seasoning Is Important:

This process fills the tiny pores on the surface with starch, preventing leaks and reducing the absorption of food odors and colors.
You only need to do this before the first use—no need to repeat for subsequent uses.

Preparing Your Donabe Before First Use

  1. Fill the pot 80% with water and bring it to a boil.
  2. Reduce to low heat, add a water-dissolved mixture of flour (see guidelines below), and stir well.
  3. Simmer for 5 minutes, turn off the heat, and let it cool completely.
  4. Rinse thoroughly, dry completely, and it's ready to use!

Flour Quantity Guide:

  • 6-size pot: 0.5 tbsp
  • 8-size pot: 2 tbsp
  • 9-size pot: 3 tbsp
  • 10-size pot: 4 tbsp

Can I ship to PO Boxes or Parcel Lockers?

Most definitely! Most of our parcels are shipped out via Auspost, unless oversized. We'll contact you if we're unable to send your order to your shipping address.
How much does shipping cost?

We offer free shipping for orders over $149 and a flat rate of $10 for under that amount. There's an additional charge for large or bulky items which will be calculated at checkout.

Shipping costs for outside of Australia is calculated at checkou.

We currently ship our products within Australia and New Zealand only.
