Have had this for almost a year now and it's still not disintegrating. I've used it in the kitchen as a pad for the dishwashing liquid/hand wash/scrub caddy. Just don't leave the scotch brite on the diatomite else it will stick to it and would form discolouration when you remove. But sanding it with very fine sanding paper (grit 400 and above) would make it look bnew again. Happy with this pad as I don't get my kitchen countertop flooded all the time after washing dishes.
We noted the tray had black markings after use and we would wash it each time. After using for only a few months, we realized that the black markings were actually moulds growing on in the tray. We've since thrown this in the bin. For a small item that was considered to be a good quality item turned out to be a poor quality item.
Hi Mana,
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, and we're sorry to hear about your experience with the Shimoyama Diatomite Pad.
This product is made from natural diatomaceous earth, which is highly absorbent and designed to naturally dry out between uses. It's intended to be used as a tray to absorb water from damp items placed on top—not to be washed after each use. Washing it too frequently or not allowing it to fully dry can prevent moisture from evaporating properly, which may lead to mould development over time.
For best care, we recommend washing it only when necessary, then drying it thoroughly in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight.
We appreciate your feedback and are always looking for ways to improve. If you have any other concerns or would like to discuss this further, please feel free to reach out to our team at support@minimaru.com.
