Someneko translates loosely as dyed cat, every pattern in this series hides a cat silhouette worked into a traditional Japanese design, so the motif reveals itself slowly rather than all at once. The Fukizumi finish uses a spray technique to build a dark, speckled ink-wash gradient that is unique on every bowl.
At 16.5cm across, this shallow bowl suits rice, small sides or noodle salads, holding around 250ml.
