Features
- Holds heat well, keeping food sizzling at the table
- Cook on the stove and serve in the same pot
- Wide, shallow shape for crisp rice and even heating
- Classic black finish that suits Korean and Japanese dishes
Specifications
- Weight: Approx. 0.98 kg
- Material: Heat-resistant ceramic
- Country of Manufacture: Japan
Before First Use: Seasoning
Like other clay pots, this pot benefits from seasoning (medome) before first use. It seals the tiny pores in the clay to help prevent stains, odours and mould.
- Fill the pot about 80% with water and bring it to the boil.
- Turn the heat to low, stir in a little plain flour or potato starch mixed with water, and simmer for a few minutes.
- Turn off the heat, leave the pot to cool completely, then rinse and dry thoroughly.
Please also follow the instructions included with your pot.
Cooking Tips
- Brush the inside with a little sesame oil and add the rice and toppings before heating. Never heat the pot empty.
- Heat gently over low to medium heat until the rice crackles and forms a golden crust.
- The pot stays very hot, so serve it on a trivet or pot mat.
Care and Maintenance
- Let the pot cool naturally before washing, and never pour cold water into a hot pot.
- Wash by hand with a soft sponge and mild detergent. Don't soak it or put it in the dishwasher.
- Dry thoroughly, ideally upside down, before storing in a dry, airy place to prevent mould.

Compatible cooktops
Gas
Works on all standard gas stovetops. Direct flame delivers rapid, responsive heat — ideal for high-heat wok cooking, stir-frying, and traditional Japanese techniques that require quick temperature changes.
Ceramic
Safe for ceramic, glass, and halogen cooktops. Always lift rather than slide cookware to protect the surface, and avoid placing cold cookware onto a very hot plate.
Electric
Suitable for electric coil and solid hotplate cooktops. Allow the element to preheat fully before cooking for the most even heat transfer across the base.
