[Ukiyoe][Wind God and Thunder God] Fujin and Raijin were originally the deities of the Thousand-Armed Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, and have been respected since ancient times. The god of thunder, who leaps from heaven to earth and stamps his foot on the ground. The wind god, who flutters his windbag and runs through the sky. While threatening the earth with calamity, the wild gods bring fertility to the earth with the changing of the seasons. The god of winds, who threatens the earth with disasters, but also brings fertility to the land with the changing of the seasons, is still a unique figure after many years. The screen paintings are made by Tawaraya Sotatsu, a national treasure in the collection of Kenninji Temple, are full of tension in composition and drama through the use of the Tarashikomi technique. The dramatic cloud formations are created by the Tarashikomi technique, and the intense dynamism of the two deities is a masterpiece of the art of painting.
